Research Hub
In this presentation, Rick Jaffe will introduce the Research Hub, a new service from Information Services and Technologies (IST) that provides powerful tools for content management and collaboration. Research Hub is available to campus members at hub.berkeley.edu (CalNet ID required).
Research Hub allows users to create sites — personal or shared work spaces, complete with a document library, a wiki, a workflow engine and other tools to support group communication and project work. With Research Hub, you can store and manage files securely; browse documents quickly; add folders, tags, comments, and descriptive information to organize and annotate content; use full-text search and advanced filtering to find content fast; and automatically maintain versions of your documents. (No more time wasted editing an old draft!) Easily managed site membership and role-based permissions let users share materials broadly, yet ensure that private files remain private. Research Hub connects to your desktop, laptop, iPad, and smart phone, and integrates with favorite applications — all the while keeping your materials protected in the UC Berkeley data center.
Through demonstration and discussion, Rick will teach the basics of using this new service, answer support questions as appropriate (issues that might resonate with the entire audience), describe the landscape of related services available to campus, and hear Micronet members' thoughts on their needs vis-a-vis file management and collaboration services.
Rick Jaffe is Support Lead for the Research Hub service.
